It was almost unanimous. After a second round of interviews and discussing the merits of each finalist, Mount Dora City Council offered the position to Robin Hayes, current Management Services Director for the City of Oviedo.
Hayes has held that position for the last four and a half years. She comes with an extensive background in municipal finance and previously served as Finance Director and Finance Manager for Winter Garden and Titusville respectively. The public servant brings over fifteen years of experience in city and state government leadership. This will be her first time in as a city manager.
Hayes verbally accepted the council's offer. The exact terms of her employment agreement will likely be completed this week along with a starting date. Mount Dora has a residency requirement for its city manager, so Hayes is expected to move to the city after starting the position.
The extensive search for a city manager yielded 66 qualified applicants. Eventually, the field was narrowed to eleven candidates and then to the five finalists.
During the selection process, the city hosted a 'Meet and Greet' reception for residents to become familiar with the candidates and share their feedback with council members. The council voted 6-1 that Hayes was the right person to be Mount Dora's top administrator.
