Get out the gardening gloves. Just in time for Spring planting, Lake County’s Landscape & Garden Fair, a will be held April 16-17 at Discovery Gardens. The family-friendly event is an indoor/outdoor botanical festival providing visitors the opportunity to browse and purchase landscaping products, native plants, roses and fruit trees. The weekend event will feature expert guest speakers on a variety of topics including butterfly gardening, unusual edibles, shade gardening and hydroponics. Children's activities include the Children’s Passport, a butterfly release scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, and a Maze Scavenger Hunt in the gardens. Discovery Gardens is nestled on over four acres behind the Lake County Agricultural Center in Tavares and features 24 themed gardens, including a string of lush courtyards and five specially designed children’s gardens. The festival runs Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and on Sunday, April 17 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Lake County Extension Center's Discovery Gardens is located at 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares.
