Rumors have been buzzing for months. Now it’s official. Mount Dora’s cramped Post Office on Donnelly Street needs a bigger space.
The U.S. Postal Service moved into the approximately 5,900 square-foot space over 50 years ago. It’s now seeking at least a 9,000 square-foot facility to accommodate the needs of a growing community.
The USPS is requiring the space be within a mile radius of the 711 N. Donnelly St. site and be leased at a square-foot rate close to their current rate. Ideally, the space would have a loading dock or the opportunity to build one.
The USPS is expected to host a public meeting sometime this summer either at City Hall or Mount Dora Community Building. The date is to be announced.
