'Tis the season for many vacant spaces to be dusted off, repainted and given new life downtown.  Finishing touches are currently being done to the decor, displays and merchandising of The Lacy Ladybug, a women's boutique set to open September 26 in the Renaissance Building. 

The bright, contemporary store distinguishes itself as being "a unique, chic, curvy ladies' boutique" featuring fashionable women's apparel in sizes twelve and above.   The shop will also stock complementary women's handbags and costume jewelry.

Mount Dora’s longest-standing festival will take place in the next four weeks. For forty-one years the annual Mount Dora Bicycle Festival has been held in this charming town. This year the festival is going to bring as many as 2,000 cyclists from at least fifteen states and three countries. MOUNT DORA'S BICYCLE FEST PICKS UP SPEED

Lots of passion and hard work  have been the key ingredients in turning Mount Dora's annual Bicycle Festival into one of Central Florida’s premier cycling events.  

This year the event expects to double the number of riders from last year’s 1361, according to Tracy Draper, the event’s chairperson.    The revamped festival presently has record pre-registrations for the three day event starting October 9.  Read more...

PIRATES EXPECTED TO RAID MOUNT DORA

Ahead of the tourist invasion this fall, crews of one-eyed pirates will be descending on Mount Dora this month.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day has been celebrated by downtown's Cupcake Delights for the past 3 years after its owner, Judy Owens,  looked for something fun to do during a slow month when her daughter, Taylor,  suggested the pirate event.   Taylor loved the Pirates of the Caribbean series and talking like a pirate, so thought it would be a fun event.  Read more...
