Meet Amy.  She is a six-year-old resident of the Lakeside Inn for the past 130 years.

One foggy morning in the late 1800s, Amy wanted to join her father in a fishing outing on Lake Dora. He told her to stay with her mother at the Inn. Unbeknownst to her father, Amy followed him down to the lake. She was never heard from again, but there have been sightings.  Read more...

Mount dora definitely has stories to be shared. When i applied for a job at the Windsor rose I used the ladies restroom and felt as though someone was waiting for me by the door. I leaned into the door and said "someone's in here". I heard a woman's voice say "it's elenor". Enda, elenor something like this. Anyway of course no one was there. And as I say down waiting to be interviewed by the manager I felt I wouldn't be getting the position. I know now the woman was who occupys this resturant... it's so thick you can see it like a movie being played out right in front of your eyes. A tall, prominate woman of poise and etiquette. A woman with brunette hair, who thrived on entertaining guests who visiting her city. And if you dared walked in not fitting to that aire, you were quickly scrutinized and unwlecomed. that was just the times she lived in.... maybe that's why I didn't receive the job, I had dress pants on, and a blouse.. that was unacceptable a woman not wear a beautiful dress in those days, lol.

But that's not all...

On another occation I took my mom shopping downtown and I told her my experience of "elenore" in the Windsor rose, we stoped at the gift shop next to the restaurant, I blatantly asked the owner of the gift shop" there's a woman who is the real boss, she frequents next door, but theres a young boy, about 12 who frequents both your gift shop and occation the restaurant... I want on to ask, did he lived in these premesis, as a hired help to this "elenore"? She confirmed the woman and the boy, but didn't know thier backstory....

I felt as though the boy once lived as a hired helped to Ms.Elenore and was spotted around the gift shop, working in the garden....

On another occation I visited the lakeside inn. As I was waiting in the lobby, I again hear "elenore" lean over and whisper in my ear " her name. I immediately had goosebumps and was frozen in fear. What ws going on. .. why am I encountering this woman again? And here?! I then had a vision of woman and men visiting , freshly off the train, and here's Ms.Elenore once more the hostess with the mostess, welcoming guests, and giving them a tour of the lifestyle of our city. I felt as though she was informing me how she was the queen of the social club.

As I once visited the restroom, I had a heavy feeling very heavy, maybe it was because it's basement level... but whatevr it was I left out of there quickly.

When i visited the upstairs I felt the hall immediately in the right back room has most activity, a little girl , blond hair.... funny thing was there was no elevator yet I felt as though to expect one as I turned the corner. I looked at the top window and see the rooftop. I visioned this small girl having an accident retrieving her doll on the rooftop during some sort of contruction to the new rooftop.....maybe an attempt to build an elevator that haulted construction when the girl went missing....

Anywho. Lots of untold stories screaming if you're willing to stop , look and listen.
I could go on about the older gentleman residing or i should say, searching for his friend at Lake Receptions event venue in mount dora, almoost as thoigh he unknowingly attended a funeral and never met hiis friend in the other side... and is sewrchung for him still... if you hang out in the backhallway long enough youll meet him face to face, asking where his friend is. Older suspenders and hat wearing sweet and sad man.

....I just walk down the brick street alleyway of barrles of books meets Windsor rose and can feel the presence of "elenore" scoping the tables making sure everyone is having a good time. I mentally "tip my hat" in respect to the ever present individuals who are living in our city still today.
