It shouldn't be any surprise. With over 1,400 lakes and seven of the top 11 lakes for bass fishing in Florida, Lake County is the place to catch trophy fish.
“Anglers regard Lake County’s lakes as some of the most diverse and abundant for fishing in the entire state,” said Adam Sumner, Lake County Economic Development & Tourism Division Manager. “Florida is the fishing capital of the world, but Lake County is quickly becoming known as a premier destination for trophy largemouth bass."
The prolific fresh-water fishing has attracted some of the sport's most prestigious tournaments including the Bass Pro Shop’s Big Bass Tour, the Bassmaster Elite Series, the Bassmaster Southern Open, the Fishers of Men National Championship and others to Lake County.
To help anglers catch 'the big one', Lake County Tourism and the Lake County Communications Department recently launched www.lakebigbass.com, a one-stop-shop for fishing enthusiasts visiting Lake County.
The website provides a mammoth amount of information highlighting the county’s top fishing lakes, as well as valuable details including size and variety of fish, water depth and more; a directory of boat ramps, marinas, bait shops, charter boat rental information, local fishing guide services.
The site also includes local tournament listings; testimonials from top area anglers; and a searchable map to explore fishing-related locales, as well as places to stay, play and dine within Lake County.
