Runners, take your mark! Mount Dora's Half Marathon & 5k will take over the streets of Mount Dora this Sunday morning.
The event has gained accolades amid serious runners across the state and this year the number of volunteers has also increased, according to race director, Vickie Blate.
Although race registration continues until 6:45 on Sunday morning, there are presently 1200 participants registered for both races representing 32 states and five countries. In addition to runners, the event will feature vendors at the finish line at Evans Park, and attract approximately 2500 spectators.
According to the forecast, perfect running weather is expected with temperatures during the race in the 60s. Drivers should anticipate traffic delays and detours throughout Mount Dora on Sunday morning.
Bill Rodgers, three-time winner of the Boston and New York Marathons, will be at the race signing and selling his book "Marathon Man".
Online registration closes December 17, however participants can register in person Saturday, December 19 at City Hall from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m., as well as Sunday morning at Evans Park from 5:30-6:45 am. The first race starts at 7a.m.
