MT. DORA POLICE RAIDS CRACK DOWN ON DRUGS

Early this morning Mount Dora Police executed 5 search warrants with 8 arrests netting the seizure of drugs and weapons.

Members of the Mount Dora Police Department's Special Operation Unit, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration, concluded a 4-month operation within Mount Dora city limits.  The operation, named "Operation: Crackdown"  targeted lower and mid-level drug dealers.

 As part of the operation, five search warrants were executed resulting in 8 arrests and the seizure of large amounts of marijuana, prescription drugs and multiple firearms, including one firearm stolen from Orlando.

The operation took place this morning at approximately 5:45 a.m., when more than 100 law enforcement officers, including SWAT teams from Mount Dora and Eustis, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and DEA, executed four search warrants in Mount Dora’s northeast and one in the city’s southeast. The majority of the search warrants were in close proximity of Mount Dora High School or Mount Dora Middle School. 

After the execution of the search warrants MDPD’s Code Enforcement Unit was called in to look at each residence. Code Enforcement found numerous violations in each residence leading to five new, open cases. Two of the residences were in such a state of disrepair that they have been condemned.

3.      531 E. Jackson Avenue (condemned)
4.      1025 E. Jackson Avenue
5.      326 N. Simpson Street
