There is no avoiding growth. The only question is how Lake County and its cities want to grow. This Thursday Lake County will host a meeting in Mount Dora about the possible widening of Round Lake Road. A study focused on proposed changes along a nearly five-mile stretch of the rural road will be the focus of the open house style meeting. The stretch of road being considered for widening from two lanes to four extends from Meadowland Drive in Orange County to Wolf Branch Road in Lake County. Additionally, there is a proposal to extend Round Lake Road north past Wolf Branch Road to north of State Road 44. The study examines how people and vehicles travel on a particular stretch of the road and identifies potential mobility and operational solutions. At the meeting, the “Recommended Build Alternative” and the “No Build Alternative” will be presented along with the associated evaluations. The public meeting will also provide residents an opportunity to express their views concerning the social, economic, and environmental impacts of the proposed changes to Round Lake Road. There will be no formal presentation; however an informational video will run continuously throughout the evening. The meeting will be at the Mount Dora Community Building located at 520 N. Baker Street, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Additional information is available online, and the meeting displays and video will be posted at www.roundlakeroadstudy.com within a week after the meeting.
