The Presidential Primary election in Florida is just around the corner.  Here's some helpful information for Lake County voters on topics ranging from early voting, election security, and voting by mail.

WHO ARE LAKE COUNTY VOTERS?

What is the total number of registered voters in Lake County?
245,880 (on March 3, 2020)
What is the breakdown of registered voters? (March 3, 2020)
Republicans:  107,587 
Democrats:  74,121 
No party affiliation:  62,111

PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY

When is the Presidential Preference Primary in Florida?
March 17, 2020.  Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
Where do I vote on the Presidential Primary Day on March 17?
Voters must vote at their assigned precinct on Election Day. Some precinct/polling locations have changed.  Voters can verify their current precinct here. 
How do I get a vote-by-mail ballot?
Registered voters can request a ballot by emailing mailballots@lakevotes.com or stopping by the Elections Office,  located at 1898 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL 32778.  Voters can also request it online here.  The deadline to request a mail ballot is March 7, 2020.   The deadline for completed ballots to arrive at the Supervisor of Elections Office is March 17, 2020, at 7 p.m.  

When is early voting and what’s its advantage?
Early voting starts March 5 and continues through March 14.  Polls are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Early voting lines are usually shorter and allow much more location flexibility than voting on Election Day. 

Where are Lake County’s early voting locations?
There are eleven Early Voting sites located throughout Lake County open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from March 5 through March 14.  Voters can choose the location that is the most convenient for them. 
The Early Voting sites are as follows: 
  • Cagan Crossings Community Library, 16729 Cagan Oaks, Clermont, FL 34714 
  • Clermont Arts and Recreation Center, 3700 S. U.S. Highway 27, Clermont, FL 34711 
  • Cooper Memorial Library, 2525 Oakley Seaver Drive, Clermont, FL 34711 
  • Eustis Service Center, 301 W. Ward Avenue, Eustis, FL 32726 
  • Lady Lake Public Library, 225 W. Guava Street, 2 nd Floor, Lady Lake, FL 32159 
  • County Administration Building, 315 W. Main Street, 2 nd Floor, Tavares FL 32778 
  • Leesburg Public Library, 100 E. Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748 
  • Minneola City Hall, 800 N. U.S. Highway 27, Minneola, FL 34715 
  • Southside Umatilla Community Center, 17107 Ball Park Road, Umatilla, FL 32784

Where can sample ballots be found?
Sample ballots are mailed to voters a week prior to the start of Early Voting and are also available on the Lake County Supervisor of Elections website here.  Voters can mark up a sample ballot and take it with them for reference when voting. ​

October 5, 2020

Does Lake County have paper backup ballots?
Yes, at every polling place.
What is the manufacturer of Lake County’s voting machines?
Lake County uses two state-of-the-art systems at polling places that are responsible for different functions.  Lake County has had no problems with either system to date, according to Alan Hays, Lake County Supervisor of Elections .   The electronic poll books are manufactured by VR Systems. The tabulation machines are manufactured by ES & S.
What State and Federal agencies have assisted the Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office with cyber security?
On-site visits to review, assess, test and improve cyber security measures have been done by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the FBI, FDLE and the State of Florida Cyber Navigator, as well as the Florida National Guard.  In addition, the Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office has a cyber report that monitors IP addresses 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 
Has Lake County invested in election security?
Yes, the County invested over $300,000 in election security in the last three years. ​
