FREE LOCAL PET ADOPTIONS ON AUG. 5

Providing a forever-home to furry friends in need just got easier.  “Hot Dogs, Cool Cats” is a free pet adoption event to be held at Lake County Animal Shelter in Tavares on Saturday, August 5.  The event is from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with free hot dogs and popsicles between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“Summer is a wonderful season for families to consider adopting a pet,” said Brian Sheahan, Lake County Community Safety & Compliance Director. “Children are home from school and are able to spend time bonding and caring for their new best friend.”​

“It is of course important when selecting a dog or cat for your family to ensure the particular animal is the right fit for your home and lifestyle,” added Sheahan. “Our staff and volunteers are happy to work with shelter visitors to find the perfect match for your household.”  

Lake County's mission is to have all savable animals adopted or rescued.   The public can help by fostering, adopting or sharing the adoptable pets on social media.

The event is sponsored by L.E.A.S.H., Inc., a non-profit agency based in Lake County that directly benefits shelter animals in need.   "Hot Dogs & Cool Cats" event is held at the shelter located at 28123 County Road 561 in Tavares.
