The lakefront setting was absolutely stunning, albeit tucked away from the weekend hustle and bustle of downtown Mount Dora.
Now, the city’s Village Market has a much more visible location.
Every Sunday, Sunset Park and the adjacent pedestrian area play host to busy tents offering shoppers everything from fresh produce, baked goods and seafood to plants, crafts and local honey. The central location should minimize vendor attrition and allow the market and downtown stores to share their customers.
Vendors and local businesses experienced strong sales the first day the market opened at its new location. The Olive Branch Mediterranean Bar & Grill, Pisces Rising, and Noni along with other restaurants and stores experienced a significant jump in sales compared to the previous Sunday.
The market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and shoppers are encouraged to get there early for the best selection. Downtown Mount Dora cafes like Cody’s on 4th, Magical Meat Boutique and Cecile’s are open early to serve breakfast to shoppers before or after their time at the market.
Sunset Park is located on the corner of 4th Avenue and Alexander Street. Free parking is available on the street or in downtown’s parking lots. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor at Mount Dora Village Market will find the manager, Don Stewart, on site every Sunday.
