VALET PARKING COMES TO DOWNTOWN MOUNT DORA

The service eases parking woes in many cities and now downtown Mount Dora has its own valet parking. 

Drivers can drop off their vehicles at the valet stand located adjacent to the pedestrian area at Alexander Street and 4th Avenue.   

Valet Parking Executive Services plans to provide the service seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. or until the last vehicle has left (see editor's note below).  The valets will park the cars in a Highland and Camp Street lot and return them downtown when drivers are ready.  The lot can accommodate over 200 cars.

The wait to retrieve a car is expected to be between five and ten minutes, but customers can eliminate the delay by using a texting feature alerting valets in advance to bring their car to the pick up spot, according to Marc Gorewitz, the company’s owner.  

The cost of the valet service is $7 Monday through Thursday.  Friday through Sunday the cost is $10.  Some downtown restaurants, like Las Palmas Cuban Restaurant, will credit customers the valet fee, so diners should ask their servers.  

Gorewitz is hoping to park 200 to 500 cars on weekends during the summer with five to seven valets working.    He’s planning for 400 to 700 vehicles during weekends in peak season with eight to ten valets assisting customers.   The company also provides valet services to restaurants in Dr. Phillips in Orange County.
