NEW PROGRESS ON MOUNT DORA'S EPIC THEATRES

Epic Theatres announced last year it was building a state-of-the-art multiplex in Mount Dora and movie-lovers waited anxiously for the first signs of construction.   

First they saw the ground cleared.  Then nothing visibly happened on the site for months.   Today there are collective sighs of relief as big signs of progress emerge.

Using a crane, construction crews began erecting the mammoth concrete walls for the entertainment complex and a temporary foundation has been poured.   Epic Theatres typically have a 10- to 12-month construction process which gives the Mount Dora location an estimated opening of Spring, 2018,  according to an Epic Theatres representative and the construction superintendent.  

The 50,000 square-foot, 12-screen multiplex is being erected on the land between Target and Walmart.  It will feature 1,400 reclining seats, beer and wine,  two extra-large screens, optional reserved seats and an enhanced concession menu.

After the $10 million project is completed, Epic expects to hire between 30-50 employees depending on the season.  ​
