STRAWBERRY LOVERS FLOCK TO SORRENTO U-PICK FARM

The local strawberry season is still in full swing and could continue through March depending on the weather. 

Oak Haven Farms & Winery, a family-owned U-Pick strawberry farm in Sorrento, has seven acres of their twenty-acre farm available for picking.  Priced at $3.50 a pound, visitors can pick rows of ripe berries or opt for pre-picked berries sold for $4 per pound.   

The Stauderman family has owned the farm for over twenty years and strawberries have been a staple.   Nine years ago, a vineyard was added to grow grapes for making sweet local fruit wines.

The farm is family-friendly and offers a free obstacle course, playground, short zip line, as well as a hayride on weekends.  Pets are not permitted at the farm.

Inside the white barn, shoppers can taste and purchase the farm’s fruit wines, as well as find pre-picked berries, condiments, and local honey.  On weekends, the kitchen in the barn sells u-roast hot dogs, drinks, fresh strawberry shortcake, and ice cream.

Picking hours during the season vary due to supply and weather, but typically the days are Fridays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 5  p.m. on Sundays.  Oak Haven Farms is located at 32418 Avington Road in Sorrento.
