At first glance, Lake Dora seems far removed from glitz and glamour. This weekend it's time for a second look.
Once every year the Central Florida lake transforms into a showcase of vintage glamour. This weekend will bring all the beauty and nostalgia of the Sinatra era onto the shores of the downtown Tavares lakefront.
The 37th annual Sunnyland Antique and Classic Boat Festival at Wooton Park is the largest vintage boating event on the East Coast with nearly 200 meticulously restored boats in the water and on shore.
This year’s event includes a Festival of Speed that features a display of up to sixty antique and classic cars to complement the vintage boats. Attendees can also check out tents of nautical vendors or take to the air in a seaplane ride.
The event begins Friday at 9 a.m. and ends Sunday at noon, weather permitting. Tickets are ten dollars for the weekend. Wooton Park is located at 123 South Joanna Avenue in downtown Tavares. Parking is available at the City of Tavares Parking garage.
