MOUNT DORA

• An accidental fire broke out at Ro-Mac Lumber on Old 441 in Mount Dora.  50 firefighters responded to the blaze which was started by a power line.  No injuries were reported.


• ABC Liquor opened its 10,000 square foot location on Donnelly and US 441.   Love wine?  Local wine lovers can get more info about area wine bars and stores by reading 'The 411 for Local Wine Lovers"  here.

• This year's local mayoral and city council elections feature incumbents facing challengers in all seats except District 4.    In that seat, newcomer Marc Crail, is unopposed.  Mount Dora Buzz will be hosting its public annual Candidate Forum to meet the candidates on Oct. 8 at 6pm.   Check the calendar for more details.

• The annual Mount Dora Bicycle Fest, the three-day event beginning October 9 for novice and experienced riders, has renewed traction with a large increase in the number of registrants this year and new features.  Read more....

• Thoughtful leave-behind tokens for random acts of kindness or to give to friends were found at Papilio's counter.  Of course, we were partial to the bee token!  (5th Avenue, Mount Dora) 

• Dinner specials at Mount Dora Brewing didn't disappoint. The fish and the pasta specials were amazing!  (405 S. Highland St., uptown)
