NOVEMBER ISSUE: News for Mount Dora, Tavares & Eustis

- It's Eustis' and Tavares' turn!  It's time to vote in the Best of Eustis and the Best of Tavares awards.  Categories range from best bartenders and burgers to the best hair stylists and school.  Winners will be announced in the December issue of Mount Dora Buzz and on our Facebook page  Vote here

- There are so many events going on this month that there is literally something for everyone.  Events range from the Community Fall Festand Light Up Mount Dora to a Renaissance Fair and Taste of Tavares.  Check the calendar for details on these and other local events.

-  Next week Mount Dorans will cast their ballots for a new city council person.  Mount Dora Buzz doesn't endorse candidates, but did ask them 10 key questions about local issues and printed their answers in their entirety.  The result is your cheat sheet to find out what candidate best aligns with your views. Read more   

- Downtown Mount Dora's Entertainment District is still in limbo because the City Council vote on the measure was postponed.  The ordinance would allow patrons to walk downtown with open containers of alcohol purchased at licensed downtown establishments.  The vote is expected to be rescheduled for another meeting in the near future.  

-  Hard to believe but Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  That means Light Up Eustis & Light Up Mount Dora will be on the heels of your turkey dinner.  Eustis will have its festivities on November 23 and  Mount Dora will follow on the 24th. -  Following in Mount Dora's footsteps, the City of Tavares has plans to demolish its aging wooden play fort at Wooton Park, known as Wooton Wonderland. The new playground will reportedly follow the park's seaplane theme.  Read more  Meanwhile, Gilbert Park's playground is expected to re-open later this month with new play equipment.  Read more

-  Expect to see some new construction in the coming months.  Florida Hospital Waterman, soon to be AdventHealth, announced it will be building a new medical plaza in Mount Dora.  Read more

- A picture may say a thousand words, but Mount Dora Buzz' YouTube channel says even more with its short videos.  As the channel grows, topics will range from local events, interviews and more. You can subscribe here.  Amateur videographers are always welcome to submit their short videos, so start shooting!
