Mount Dora Marketplace began renovations on the small alley between the two buildings to allow better access to the outdoor seating area and to make the area more inviting to customers.

Next time you're in downtown Mount Dora and have time to explore, stop in to see Papilio's new, larger location on Donnelly Street near 5th Avenue. The space has undergone a beautiful transformation.

Super Bowl may be over, but there's still some football news to spread. Mount Dora High Hurricanes have a new football coach. Cameron Porch, was recently hired as head coach and a physical education teacher. Porch has coached at high schools in Georgia and North Florida.

Love gyros? Downtown Mount Dora has a delicious new dining option. Mediterranean Kitchen offers fresh, build-your-own gyros, salads and bowls. The eatery is owned by very familiar local faces and experienced restaurateurs. Read more

Tavares has a new ethnic dining option in the heart of downtown. Asian Invasion is a new eatery offering Thai and Japanese dishes including sushi and more. The opening is welcome news after the closing of Lake Dora Sushi & Sake downtown. More info

A new, casual Greek restaurant is planning to open in Eustis. As more information becomes available, watch for the article on Mount Dora Buzz's Facebook page and website.

Mount Dora is moving forward with conceptual plans and design services to renovate Cauley Lott Park. The plan will involve community input and use a $200,000 grant to help fund the necessary improvements.

Last month the City presented the idea for an 18-24 court pickleball complex on a vacant site adjacent to Lincoln Park to the area's advisory committee. The idea was unanimously opposed by all of the committee's members due to the area's needs and priorities. Read more

-A shout-out also goes to the residents of Lake Gertrude that put forth an impressive effort to create a memorable community gathering to usher in 2020 at the lakefront. They succeeded in making memories for residents and strengthening their community.
